President: Theresa Hartmann

Vice President: Joanne Pearson

Membership Chair: TBD

Secretary: Rebecca Wallace

Treasurer:  Cecilia Huisman

Scholarship: Mandy Coates

  • Update on IYNAUS Regional IMIYA Representative : Avery K (CIYT from New Mexico)  and Gretchen (IYNAUS) are in discussions about this regional representative position, Avery is currently out of the country through the end of the year. Once Avery returns, IMIYA will be in contact. The board feels Avery would be a solid representative for IMIYA.
  • Update on IMIYA Membership : Update on Suki considering membership chair, the board was hopeful that Suki would join the meeting tonight, but she was unable. She is interested, however, she recently started a new work position and hours and schedule vary.
  • Thank you Joanne for conducting the October Meeting. Joanne Pearson has been voted the Key Executer/President effective January 2023. Theresa Hartmann will complete her term December 31, 2022.
  • IYNAUS update : New Executive Committee member named Stephanie will be liaison to Regional Meetings. The role is being clarified. At this point, IMIYA’s position might be more to watch and observe vs comment while the IYNAUS board positions transition in 2023.
  • Transference of President title through Secretary of State Colorado in progress – Theresa has researched and started this process and it appears to be straightforward
  • Bylaws to begin reviewing/updating

1)SCHOLARSHIP (MANDY) – not able to attend today’s meeting

  • New committee/application/approach for next round of applicants- Mandy was not able to attend today. The board feels there needs to be more discussion on scholarships. Considerations being “tiering” amounts and what the monies could be used for. As a reminder, our non-profit status is educational so scholarships need to be used this way. It will be very important that the “terming” and/or language used for application purposes be very exact. The board could create a list of items that scholarships could be used for. With the national convention in May 2023 it could be possible that scholarships awarded could be paid directly to IYNAUS for recipients convention registration (however not for accommodations, travel or meals).
  • Outreach success

         2) MEMBERSHIP (TBD : Suki ?)

  • Update on role for Suki
  • Example of past work of the member chair completed.
  • Would captions for Suki as a second language learner help?
  • Member Survey to develop in January.  IYASE has an excellent template shared. Rebecca has it on Google drive and can share with the board. She feels it would be easy to email to members in early 2023.

3)TREASURER (Cecilia) – could not attend today’s meeting

  • Cecilia on paperwork listed with state
  • Is January the first Quarterly report:update

  4)YOGA AND EQUITY (Joanne)

  • Updated Statement that aligns with IYNAUS Equity training : received, Thank you Joanne, still developing

5)WEBSITE (Rebecca) –  unable to attend today’s meeting

  • Shall we post/make available a new member survey?  Template available from IYASE… Theresa sent to all board members on 10/7. Rebecca could not open. Theresa resent it differently and now it can be viewed. Rebecca added to Google drive to share with other board members.
  • Cecilia and Theresa had started a member survey and decided to use uniformity of IYASE work.  It’s excellent. IMIIYA can reshape it for our region.
  • Is there anything you’d like from any of us?

              6) OUTREACH/COMMUNICATION (Melisa)

  • Upcoming Quarterly Regional Meetings via Basecamp – at this time it is not known when the next meeting will be held
  • Instagram update- Long time teacher and IMIYA member, Sawyer Ward is willing to assist Melisa in creating some philosophical posts for Melisa to use on Instagram
  • There was also some discussion on the direction of how to use IMIYA’s Instagram- Do we market IMIYA vs utilizing this social media as a platform for sharing?

                 7) OTHER

  • Take down or keep up Yoga Equity Library / vote
  • Any HIGH DREAMS for IMIYA’s next six months
  • IYASE survey to replicate/adjust for our region
  • Review and update Bylaws – Maybe the board knows of a lawyer that could assist with this.
  • Share: How is everything going balancing board work and home life?  Can we help each other?
  • Negative declarations vs Constructive reflection : GREAT JOB staying constructive ALL!
  • Do we want to add to our mission statement as our board diversifies further? This is something to work on for 2023.

Mission Statement: “The Intermountain BKS Iyengar Yoga Association is committed to serve the Iyengar yoga community, by offering both educational and financial resources to current Iyengar yoga teachers, Iyengar yoga students and the wider yoga community.”
