The Scholarship committee acknowledges that while yoga is meant for all, systemic injustice creates financial, cultural, and geographical barriers to practice. Scholarships are one step towards widespread community access to the transformational practice of Iyengar Yoga. We therefore especially welcome applications from folks who identify as Black, Indigenous and all People of Color, Transgender, Queer, big bodied, single parents, and/or differently-abled people who face economic challenges.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Contact us if you have questions.
Iyengar Yoga Class Pack Scholarship
Do You Want To Take Iyengar Yoga Classes?
If you are interested in practicing Iyengar Yoga but cannot afford to go to classes in an Iyengar yoga studio, please apply for a class package scholarship.
In the midst of a global pandemic and the uprising of people against systemic racist violence, the IMIYA Board is ready to help both teachers and students in our region. Now more than ever, people need yoga and yoga teachers need funds, so we are offering to foot the bill for class packages of $100. When a student’s scholarship application is approved, we will pay these funds directly to teachers. We want to get this money circulating in our community during this difficult time, so we as a Board are ready to send out 20 of these scholarships.

Iyengar Yoga Outreach Fund
IMIYA’s main objective is to share and grow Iyengar Yoga. To further this goal, we are looking to both broaden the reach of Iyengar yoga and become more inclusive within our system. To do this, we would like to connect with all CIYTs and inform you of funds we have made available to start up outreach programs. IMIYA is especially interested in supporting programs that support BIPOC or other marginalized communities.
An outreach program would connect students who would otherwise be unaware of Iyengar yoga or unable to participate in Iyengar yoga for any reason.
We believe that by supporting special projects developed by CIYTs this objective will be supported. This fund provides resources to yoga teachers who are initiating outreach projects of interest.
Teacher Training Fund
This scholarship is for existing IMIYA members who are studying to become a certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher (CYIT). The scholarship will help cover the up to 50% of the tuition cost for Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training programs. To apply for this scholarship, click here.
