Iyengar Yoga

The system of yoga known as Iyengar Yoga was created and developed by Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar. His approach to yoga is based on the traditional eight limbs of yoga taught over 2500 years ago by the sage Patanjali. Iyengar Yoga is a powerful and sophisticated discipline that can be practiced at all stages of life. Its benefits are far-reaching and can assist the practitioner in all aspects of daily life.

InterMountain Iyengar Yoga Association

The Intermountain Iyengar Yoga Association (IMIYA) was established as one of 12 independent, regional branches of the Iyengar National Association (IYNAUS). Regional associations serve the students in their geographical areas with regular communications, opportunities for study in the region, access to scholarships, and more. IMIYA includes Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.

All regional associations seek to educate the public on the art, science and philosophy of yoga taught by B.K.S. Iyengar and his family. Each regional association nominates a regional representative to sit on the IYNAUS Board of Directors. The Pune Constitution, a guide approved by Mr. Iyengar for the governance of associations worldwide, calls for this representative form of governance.
